Glitter Girl

The sun is out and the temperatures are rising! Although I would love to continue wearing my cozy knits and layers, I never mind a little bit of sun and warmth. And so, I decided to celebrate the sun by sporting a festive blazer. A sequined blazer! This may be the kind of thing you wouldn't wear unless you were having a night on the town, but I think that wearing sequins is something that can be worn for any occasion, and no occasion. As long as it's done with some taste, of course.

Too Cool for School

Man did this outfit make me feel cool! From the sleek trench coat that makes me feel mysterious, to the shirt that may seem plain until you check out the shoulders, and the shoes that are just too much. Yeah... my clothes are awesome! Haha, ok, but enough of that. This is something I literally just threw on. I think it worked out this way because whenever I go shopping I like to buy pieces that may seem plain but just have a little something special to them, whether it be the fit, embellishments, or color schemes. It's a way of expressing your personality in each individual item that you wear, and when you put it all together what you get is a statement of who you are.

Walking Tapestry

The best thing about the upcoming Fall season and cold windy weather is being able to wear big chunky knits and patterned tights. In this outfit I'm wearing both! You will soon see that my closet is stocked full of funky tights and knit sweaters in different colors, weights, patterns, fits...etc. Tights and sweaters are just so comfy and cozy they make the bitter cold bearable.

This sweater is a recent find from H&M and I'm not the only big fan of it; Anh from 9to5 chic also sported this sweater as well. When a good thing comes around, it's obvious. Way to go H&M!

Maxi Me

First off I'd like to apologize for the poor quality iPhone pictures. You see, as my friend was about to take pictures of this outfit, which I was quite excited for since we were at a great location, my camera DIED! Yes, that is how things work out for me. If only things worked out for me in the opposite way. You know- like I always look fabulous in clothing that comes from my never-ending closet, that is all captured by a top photographer who's always by my side. That would make life easier.

Anywho, this is a maxi dress that I have had for a while and rarely wear. Most of the time it's because I like to save it for dressier occasions. It has a beautiful drape-y top that lends itself to an effortless ease kind of look. Think Angelina Jolie on the red carpet. Simple, easy and glamorous. Just add some fabulous jewelry and shoes. Today though, I decided to bring it out for a casual look. Throw on a bright scarf, and a leather jacket for warmth and I am quite pleased.

The Hunt is Complete?

This hunt for a leather jacket has taken forever, hasn't it? I feel like I've seen a thousand of them by now. I know I've tried on about 20, none of which I liked, obviously, and I've browsed a ton more. So, is the hunt complete? I'm not sure yet but I really do hope so. Taking reader advice from this post I decided that I definitely should go for something different so this is what I have landed on...

After attempting to hunt these guys down in store so I could try them on, with no success, I finally decided to just order both from Gap's website to see which will fit best and look great.

I like the camel colored one a lot for it's cut and color. I saw this in person and the leather is buttery soft and oh so pretty. The light color makes is more casual and versatile which is ok with me, and I see it pairing beautifully with rich burgundies, purples, emeralds and patterns in the fall.

The black one on the other hand is edgy, which is my favorite part about it. The panel style front is a flattering cut that can be worn open, closed, and folded down. A black leather jacket is also a staple piece in any wardrobe, and that is what I am missing. So, I'm waiting for their arrival (curse you 7-9 day free shipping!) and hopefully one of these guys is my new leather jacket. What do you all think? Any particular jacket stand out for you as a clear representative of my personal style?

Neutral Classics

I felt like doing a business causal look today. It may have something to do with this new blouse from Gap. It's super casual but such a classic and chic look. I kept most the colors neutral except for green here and there and a red lip.

Back to School Day

It was back to school day today! Not really though, for me anyway. I graduated a year ago, but I still am on campus regularly because of a volunteer position I have. Anyway, campus was full of eager and lost little freshman today, it was pretty funny actually. I remember how intimidatingly big the campus was, never mind how big SF seemed, but more than 5 years later the campus and city are incredibly small that sometimes I think about going somewhere else for a change.

This outfit is probably something I would have worn on my first day. A little trendy but mostly comfortable. Loose jeans and a loose silk shirt tucked in create a casual vibe. Maybe I can transport back to my first day of college with this look... life was so much easier then.

Contemplating

HELP!

As you all know I'm on the hunt for a leather jacket. Today I found this one. The price is manageable-ish and I am loving the color and fit, but there are two things holding me back.

1. It is very similar to my grey suede jacket, mostly because of the fit and draping collar.
2. The draped collar doesn't seem as tame as my grey leather jacket.

Any advice? Is it a good idea to stick to a cut I believe will work for me? Should I look for a completely different style? I could just buy it and return it if it doesn't work. Has anyone has experience with BB Dakota's leather? Let me know your thoughts!

Inspired

Feeling inspired by this polyvore set I created, I decided to give the look a try with items in my own closet. Sometimes I find that finding new inspiration in things you already own is a great way to re-discover your closet. It really does help you save money because it shows you the versatility of pieces you own. I wore the skirt you see in this outfit when it was much warmer out, but this morning I realized that I could make it cold weather appropriate with some layers, and a warm cup of coffee ;)

Bold

Have you ever had an item in your closet that just makes you feel super tough and bold? This new sweater is that piece for me. The structured shoulders and metallic thread add so much edge to an otherwise simple knit sweater that I can't help but feel bold in whatever outfit I'm in that includes this as a topper. Sharp eye-liner and a nude lip complete the look.

Featured!

Just wanted to direct you all to a blog, Inexpensive Chic, where I was featured for Niyah's street style series. Niyah's blog is very cool because you get to see real people's style instead of just one person's or people who can afford much more than you. It's an honor to have a fellow blogger feature me! This is a world where I think growth comes from reader and blogger support, so I'd like to thank everyone here who regularly visits my blog as well. You guys make this so much more fun!

Sparkle

Sequins may be a night time thing for the most part, but I like to add a little sparkle to my days as well. I wore this outfit for an adventure day back in the city I love. Since the top is pretty loud I kept the accessories to a minimum. The high ballerina bun is also starting to be one of my favorite go to hairstyles for when I don't have enough time to tame my frizzy locks.

Smitten

Smitten ice cream is the newest ice cream shop that has opened up in San Francisco. What makes this place so unique is that each order is made right there in front of you, "with love". With a limited daily menu you get to choose the flavor, and any toppings you want, and the order is made right there. I tried the "Tcho" (Dark Chocolate) and Kyle tried the brown sugar. Both flavors were unbelievably rich, and you could really taste the cream and milk in the ice cream, which I prefer. Since it is made via liquid nitrogen, the ice cream will melt quicker than usual so we went for a cup instead of a cone. If you are in the SF area I definitely recommend trying Smitten ice cream!

The machines that make the ice cream are named "Kelvin", which I think is clever.
