Bright and bold prints are the perfect way to make a statement with your outfit, without piling on the usual layers you would otherwise. Personally, I love florals for Spring, but that's a given. Fun geo prints, and paisley are great alternatives to brighten up your look!

Cocktail Hour
When it's freezing cold outside, and you have a nice event to go to after work, what do you do? LAYER! After work Monday night, I went to an event at Benefit Cosmetics, so I had to look decently cute, right? I wore a pretty peplum dress from Anthro, and layered a cropped cashmere sweater over it. A warm wool cocoon coat, fleece lined leggings, and knee high boots protect from the elements. Of course, I added a sparkly necklace, and bubblegum pink lip- it's Benefit Cosmetics after all!
Dress: Anthropologie. Sweater: Anthropologie. Coat: J. Crew. Leggings: Unknown via TJ Maxx. Boots: Rachel Comey. Necklace: Forever 21.

Buds and Spots
Getting a little Oliva P. with this look by mixing leopard print shoes with floral pants. It's a clash I have come to appreciate.

Mixology
Treating your stripes like a neutral is probably the easiest way to go about mixing prints. It's a combo I look to time and time again, when silhouettes are simple, and classic. If I was wearing this combo, blazer, shirt, and pencil skirt, in all neutrals, it would have been far too neutral and dated. Gotta keep things fun!

Trend-Spotting: Scarf Print
(image)
A trend that will blend seamlessly from Summer to Fall is the scarf print trend. Much like the current floral print... everything... we've been seeing, the scarf print often is reminiscent of floral and paisley prints, but can be earthier- perfect for cold weather layering! A dress can be worn now with some neutral sandals, and later with tights, socks, and booties. A pencil skirt is always perfect for the office, now with a flowy blouse, and later with a turtleneck sweater, and wide leg pants are always seasonally appropriate!
