Beach Stroll

Happy Monday everyone! I hope your weekends treated you well! My weekend was exactly what I needed, especially since it ended with watching Gangster Squad. Highly recommended!

This is what I wore on Sunday for a stroll along Ocean Beach. Can you believe there was frost on cars, and the sand?! It's been so dreadfully cold, all I have to say is that ladies who maintain being stylish in freezing snow are my heros. I couldn't imagine wearing anything other than my blanket style coat- uber warm and colorful!

Lady Grunge

Hey everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend! Tahoe was beautiful, and I'll try to post some pictures sometime this weekend.

This is a look I wore back in Los Angeles, when I was visiting my parents for Thanksgiving. The weather was so mild, and comfortable, I was glad I was able to break out my leather skirt one more time, for a bare legged look. I definitely stuck to a semi-grunge look here with a denim shirt, utility jacket, and ankle booties. I've definitely been veering towards tougher and more masculine looks lately, while trying to keep warm!

Denim Vest

A studded denim vest has never been something I thought I would find in my closet, but when this one came into work, I snagged it up, and have been throwing it over what feels like everything. Funny how things work sometimes. For this particular outfit, I liked the idea of going with a denim contrast, and topping it off with some leather to maintain the tough girl appeal.

Day to Night: Part 1

This is Part 1 of a 4 part day to night series me, and my friend Jessica put together for you all! We both took a dress, and dressed it down for day and up for night. Since day to night dressing is difficult, we thought it would be fun to take our own personal style and put a spin on this dilemma.

First up: me in my day look :)

I took one of my favorite pretty silk dresses, that I felt could easily be transformed with little effort. For day I kept it simple by throwing a military style jacket over it. These, and denim jackets can quickly dress down any look you've got. Sticking true to my style, I slipped on my favorite brown every day booties, and my go-to satchel.

City Slicker

Rarely do I take pictures of my outfits while I'm in the heart of the city, but because of the outfit, I felt it more appropriate. This is the ultimate urban-casual look to me. A simple button up layered under a cropped colorful sweater is equal parts chic as it is comfy and warm. Pair it with a leather jacket, classic blue jeans, and walkable booties, and you're prepared for what the day brings, especially if it's some gray clouds and cold gusts of wind.

Black and Leather

It's getting colder and colder, and I can finally break out my big chunky sweaters that have been sitting in my closet since early November. This one is one of my favorites because of the edgy leather sleeves. It's a small detail, but it makes a really big difference in the overall look of an outfit.

Grandpa Pleats

When I saw these trousers from American Apparel, I was skeptical. Then my friend Jessica tried them on, and purchased them, and I was hooked! She looked so great in them, that I was obsessing for a few days before I took the plunge and bought them for myself. I'm so glad that I did it, because these pants are amazing. They are flattering, so easy to wear, and extremely versatile. I can dress them down for a walk through the park and city, like below, or dress them up with a fun blouse and slinky heels for a night out.

Snuggle Up

My hometown has some of the best views. Every turn down a street you get great city, ocean, and canyon views. Sometimes, coming home makes you appreciate the little things that you normally wouldn't think of. As for my outfit today; I just kept it simple, and nothing is easier than throwing on a maxi dress. Top and bottom all in one? Count me in :)

Movement

Something about putting on a flowy maxi helps make a casual outfit more interesting. I wore this a few days ago. It was pouring today, so no chance of me getting a picture. Plus, I was bumming it today. Coming home for a vacation sometimes brings out the sloth in me.

Colors of the Wind

Man it has been crazy windy in the city lately; walking through the financial district a few days ago was a task! Whenever it is windy, you can always count on me wearing the worst outfit for the weather. If there is a hat to be worn, or a short skirt, I will be wearing it. At least the other day, when these were taken, I wore a maxi-skirt. Leaves little chance for an accidental peep-show.

This skirt and I have quite the history, by the way. I bought it on super sale at Madewell, and thought it to be quite the steal. At home, I showed it to Kyle, and noticed a huge tear in the seam by the hem. Thinking it would be an easy fix, I sewed it right up. Admittedly, I didn't want to return it since there weren't anymore of my size, and I thought the problem was solved. The next time I wore it, I tore through my repairs in a second. Why? Because it was so tight around the hem! After taking it to a tailor, getting the tear repaired, and having a slit put in, this skirt is now wearable. So much more effort than it was worth, but it is a lovely maxi, and I couldn't imagine not owning it at this point.

Birth Day

Just a quick outfit post before the festivities begin. I spent my day hanging out in South Park, shopping, and eating. A good relaxing way to spend the day. I've never been into the denim shirt look but I was convinced to try it, and I'm glad I did. They're quite comfy and stylish, just the way I like em :)
