Ikat

Happy Sunday! I've been feeling miserable for most of the weekend, these damn winds have been blowing some germs my way, so instead of a regular outfit post I got something else. I know it's been a few months, but I've got some fun pictures my friend Alec took of me. If you don't remember/know what I'm talking about, go here. I like this outfit mainly because the ikat pattern on the dress is so bold it makes the look. Minimal accessories are needed, which is why I stuck with one necklace and a beanie for fun. Expect more from the set of pictures to pop up now and then on the blog.

Colors of the Wind

Man it has been crazy windy in the city lately; walking through the financial district a few days ago was a task! Whenever it is windy, you can always count on me wearing the worst outfit for the weather. If there is a hat to be worn, or a short skirt, I will be wearing it. At least the other day, when these were taken, I wore a maxi-skirt. Leaves little chance for an accidental peep-show.
This skirt and I have quite the history, by the way. I bought it on super sale at Madewell, and thought it to be quite the steal. At home, I showed it to Kyle, and noticed a huge tear in the seam by the hem. Thinking it would be an easy fix, I sewed it right up. Admittedly, I didn't want to return it since there weren't anymore of my size, and I thought the problem was solved. The next time I wore it, I tore through my repairs in a second. Why? Because it was so tight around the hem! After taking it to a tailor, getting the tear repaired, and having a slit put in, this skirt is now wearable. So much more effort than it was worth, but it is a lovely maxi, and I couldn't imagine not owning it at this point.

Fashionable Friends: Jessica

Meet my absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly fashionable friend, Jessica. This girl is my #1 partner in crime when it comes to shopping, and I'm sure you can see why. She knows how to layer simple pieces in a way to create visual interest, using unique colors and textures. Even at her most casual, like below, her style is one to emulate.

Cardigan: J.Crew. Beanie: Anthropologie. Boots: Corso Como.

Straw SF

If you're looking for weird gastronomic concoctions look no further than Straw SF, located in Hayes Valley. Combinations that sound like they don't make sense, donut bun burgers for example, make up this fun, and festive restaurant's menu. And the fun doesn't stop there; the decor, music, and people are all quite a treat. I personally love when you can tell people love working where they are, and there was no question that the employees were having fun. Best of all, the owner gave us a free bottle of his favorite wine for my birthday! If you're going to be in the area, call ahead, seating is limited at this small restaurant, but don't let that deter you from trying this place out. It's a new personal favorite.

Fireballs: Cinnamon Sriracha chicken wings with a cinnamon sugar dip.

Chicken and waffles Monte Cristo: Chicken breast sandwich with waffles, cheese, and jam.

The famous Ringmaster: Cheeseburger on a donut bun.

Birth Night

Ok, so these weren't taken at night, but I wanted to show you all what I wore out to dinner! The night was pretty casual; just some delicious food, and amazing friends to feast with. We went to Straw SF, which is where the wildest food dreams come true. Don't believe me? There was a film crew for "World's Weirdest Restaurants" filming there while we ate. You can catch it in Canada, or wait for my review, coming soon.
Onto the outfit. Nothing too spectacular, and sparkly like I had previously shown, but I think I nailed it for the occasion. Cute shirt-dress, fun tights, a little bit of jewelry, and a bright lip. Easy and put together. The only thing I could have done without was the belt, only so there would have been more room in my belly for more delicious weird food.

Birth Day

Just a quick outfit post before the festivities begin. I spent my day hanging out in South Park, shopping, and eating. A good relaxing way to spend the day. I've never been into the denim shirt look but I was convinced to try it, and I'm glad I did. They're quite comfy and stylish, just the way I like em :)

Currently Craving: Rachel Comey

Since it's my birthday tomorrow I thought I would show you what I would treat myself to as a birthday present, if I had the money, of course. Rachel Comey's shoes are effortlessly cool. Each style is easy to incorporate into any outfit, and I love that the heel height is generally modest, at about 3 inches. Three inches is about the highest height I can do before things get too wobbly and uncomfortable. Anyone out there with about $400 to spare, I'd greatly appreciate the gesture. I'm a size 8 ;)
