Poker Face

I've been becoming more and more daring with the types of prints, and amount of prints I've been throwing together in one look, lately. This face print dress was too quirky, and fun to pass by. Since it's a larger print scale, I though putting them together will smaller prints, like polkadots in a similar color scheme, and a paint splatter print on the shoes, would be subtle enough to barely notice.

Remixed

The main thing you have to do with your wardrobe is to always mix and match separates to create new combinations; also known as remixing. It pushes creative boundaries with items you have, and grows your closet ten-fold if pushed to the limit. It's something that I am trying to work on, and take advantage of myself. Below I am wearing the dress I bought for my birthday. Initially I had dressed it up with patterned tights, jewelry, and retro-inspired peep-toes. Here I dressed it down by wearing a cropped sweater over it, using it as just a skirt. How do you remix your clothes?

Currently Craving: Asymmetry

I need some asymmetry in my life! Only when it comes to awesome hemlines, though. It's the mullet of clothing, except the party is in the front, and the business in the back. These are easy to dress up or down, and I'm looking for the perfect one to pair with thick patterned wool tights, rugged booties, and a thick cashmere sweater for day, and sexy stilettos and a lot of jewelry for night.

Birth Night

Ok, so these weren't taken at night, but I wanted to show you all what I wore out to dinner! The night was pretty casual; just some delicious food, and amazing friends to feast with. We went to Straw SF, which is where the wildest food dreams come true. Don't believe me? There was a film crew for "World's Weirdest Restaurants" filming there while we ate. You can catch it in Canada, or wait for my review, coming soon.
Onto the outfit. Nothing too spectacular, and sparkly like I had previously shown, but I think I nailed it for the occasion. Cute shirt-dress, fun tights, a little bit of jewelry, and a bright lip. Easy and put together. The only thing I could have done without was the belt, only so there would have been more room in my belly for more delicious weird food.

Currently Craving: Birthday Dress

My 23rd birthday is officially in one week!!! It's not a milestone birthday or anything like that, but I'm excited to see all my friends in one place for a night. I'm not doing anything too extravagant; just a nice dinner with my favorite people, and maybe a bar afterwards. Pretty simple and low-key. I don't think I'm going to buy a "birthday" dress, I have plenty I could wear, but there a few dresses have caught my eye as possibilities for the occasion. These dresses are also things I would wear through the holiday season and into New Year's Eve.

This dress is simple but the velvet takes it up a notch. The navy color and sheen from the fabric makes it easy to pile on different colored accessories. I would pair this with bold jewelry everywhere and a sexy pair of patterned tights like these. Best of all it's warm!
I like the pattern on this dress, and I don't have a dress with this silhouette. I would wear this with a bold necklace, this belt, thick wool tights, and booties.

This dress is the quite party dress! It's beautiful, and I would feel amazing wearing it. Since it's so standout you would hardly need to accessorize. Simple smoky eye make-up, black tights, and a great pair of pumps would perfectly accent this dress.

This is the ultimate special occasion dress! No one can do embellishments better than AllSaints. Actually no one can do a lot of things better than them. I would initially buy this for New Year's, but my birthday is pretty special, and so is this dress, so it's a match made in heaven. Like the dress above, I would keep accessories to a bare minimum.

Old Faithful

This dress is really nothing special. It has a significantly noticeable hole right there in the front, it's a few sizes too big, is a faded green color, and I've had it for waaayyy too long, but I still manage to hold onto it and wear it often. I don't know what it is about this dress, but when I cant think of what to wear I throw this on and layer/accessorize around it, and I always feel satisfied.

In Blooms

I've been in Lake Tahoe for two days now and I've been trying to post this for just as long- internet is not reliable up here. Besides that though it is absolutely beautiful. It's warm and sunny and I wish I could stay longer. I've mainly been hanging out on the beach so far and later today we are going to drive around the entire lake and explore whatever seems intriguing.

Here is what I wore my first day here. I was finally able to break out my new Betsey Johnson dress, and though it's black based the blooms make it Summer-y and it keeps me cool in this heat.

Casual Cocktail

Some of my favorite pieces of clothing that I own include a few cocktail dresses that are a little more fancy than your every day dress. But if you are going to shell out a ton of money for a dress you bought for one occasion, isn't it a waste in the end? I like to get more bang for my buck- so I experiment with other pieces in my wardrobe to make my cocktail dresses more everyday appropriate.

The dress I am wearing below is the dress I bought for my 22nd birthday that was held at a fancy bar & lounge in the Financial District of San Francisco. I love this dress to pieces so why not wear it out and about during the day? A casual jacket does the trick.

The Fourth

I spent the fourth of July with good friends and my boyfriend having a picnic in Golden Gate Park. Wine, salami, cheese, crackers, brownies, and bread were just some of the treats we got to devour. It was a great time, and I have the burns to prove it. After a quick snooze at home we trekked our way to the Embarcadero to watch the fireworks show. Overall I consider July 4th, 2011 a success!

Currently Craving...

Anthropologie just released their July catalog, and it is showcasing some absolutely gorgeous pre-fall looks. Now, for those of you who don't know, Anthropologie is probably my favorite clothing retailer. They perfectly walk the fine line between whimsical and professional. All of their pieces are versatile and easy to dress up or down for nearly any occasion. This is why my closet is made up of 90% Anthropologie.

I've included some photos of items and/or stylings that are currently making my mouth water...

The Four Corners dress by Neves Lavi is amazing. It's over my price point ($298) but it's gorgeous. I'm imagining wearing this in the fall for a night out with a thick brown leather belt around the waist, brown booties, and a lot of bronze jewelry.

Here it is on the model.

I've been looking for a cape for about a year now. I like this one although it may be too overwhelming on my frame. I love the smart styling of this look!

Love this dress. The colors are great and this could be appropriate for fall, spring and summer.

It's full of pre-fall looks that are just to die for.
