Trend-Spotting: Paisley Print

(Jil Sander RTW Spring 2012)

First came leopard prints, then floral came, saw, and conquered. What do I think the next big print will be, especially for Spring 2012? Paisley of course. Not to throw you back to the 90's, or even 60's, the new paisley print is ultra-femme and super modern. It can be worn for work, play, or anything in between. If you aren't into wearing this fun print on your clothing, try incorporating it in your bag wear, shoes, scarves, or anything else you can think of!

Trend-Spotting: Fully Skirted

Another trend for Spring that I am absolutely loving is the full-skirted look. It's ultra-feminine and flirty, and yet can be dressed into many different looks. Since Spring is a season of color, and prints, don't be shy to try different takes on this piece. I'm especially loving the Proenza Schouler pleated skirt featured below. Though I cannot afford this lovely number, the black and white marbling, with the yellow color block is simply chic, and adorable.

Spring!

Not only is it the first day of Spring, but it is also the Persian New Year for me today!! So even though you may not celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful Spring, and year ahead of you.

Ironically, I wore a pretty monochromatic outfit for a day that called on pastels, or maybe even neons. I like the ease, and flowy feel of this blouse from H&M, and though it is monochromatic, it feels very warm weather appropriate. I also added a pop of purple with the shoes, just for some festivity ;)

Blouse: H&M. Jeans: Joe's Jeans. Shoes: Calvin Klein. Sunglasses: Ray Ban. Belt: Men's BR. Bag: Schuler & Sons.

Trendspotting: Peplum

Peplums have been seen all over the Fall 2012 runway, but if you think back, you may have noticed that Spring 2012 runway shows reintroduced this silhouette in full force. Another trend for Spring 2012 that I see catching on quickly is the peplum. What I love is that nowadays you see it on jackets, and blouses, not only the standard dress or skirt. A classic black peplum dress can easily take you from work to play, or from casual to dressed up. A neutral peplum skirt is professional, chic, and modestly sexy; perfect for an office setting. A peplum blouse in a fun print can dress up your jeans and tee look for a night out. A super femme pink dress is perfect through the warmer months, and in the fall try layering a camel turtle neck under it for warmth. A bold striped peplum jacket isn't for the faint of heart, but wear it over the simplest of outfits to add that extra edge. Will you try a peplum look?
