Trend-Spotting: Pastel Leather

Trend-Spotting: Pastel Leathers

As the weather gets warmer, I've been seeing more and more pastel colors on the street, and while that's no surprise, the new iterations are quite refreshing. My favorite is the pastel leather jacket. It combines femininity, and toughness at a nice balance, and if I were to pick a color, I would love the light coral color.

When In San Diego

On my last day in SoCal, I decided to go visit one of my very best friends down in San Diego, for some fun in the sun. While it was a short visit, it was really good to be able to see her a couple of times in the week. I decided to also take that opportunity to give my very, very pale legs some color. I wore a new dress, and white blazer, for an easy, yet put together look. You may notice that the pattern of the dress is very familiar, but what can I say, when I love something, I really love it ;)

Something Borrowed...

...Indefinitely

When I spotted this sleeveless trench-style vest in my mom's closet I knew I had to have it. And since my mom can't really say no to me, I'm happy to say it has come back to San Francisco with me! I think this is such a great, versatile layer, that will add visual interest, without too much weight. Would you all sport a similar vest??

Crisp

Light weight layers, light and bright colors, and crisp, clean lines are all I can see in my future for Spring dressing. I'm so glad I could preview my future outfit formula while basking in the warm LA sun. The white linen blazer is such a closet staple- every woman should own one that fits like a glove. It will transform almost any outfit!

Stud/Stud

I felt very schoolgirl-esque in this outfit. The pleated dress, with the blazer over it seemed very prepster, but the studded contrast collar stands out just enough to make this look feel a little more special. I love overtly feminine and playful dresses, and this one I grabbed from work fits the bill perfectly!

Slouch

This whole easy breezy, single layer thing that's happening in the middle of March is something I can get used to. Though I've never been a fan on LA, I have to say, the mild temperatures are something to be missed. I decided to wear a bright silk blouse, with an equally bright lip, and contrast it with slouchy BF jeans, and black, somewhat masculine, flats.

Flirting With Spring

The warmer weather I've been experiencing has gotten me so excited for Spring! Below are some items I would love to incorporate into my wardrobe. The Spring '13 Dries Van Noten Collection heavily influenced this little collage, as that is probably my favorite collection, from anyone, to date.

LA state of mind

Happy Monday!
I'm taking a week off from work and spending it in LA with my parents. It's been really nice to sleep in and relax. Something about LA always makes me feel so laid back, and I definitely notice it in the way I dress. I shed the layers, and stick to key basic pieces, that are light and airy. I like to accessorize with random things thrown into my travel bag, and sometimes the careless result, like below, turns out to be just right.

Another DIY Look

I feel as though everyone, and I mean everyone, has at one point or another coveted this blazer, by Elizabeth and James. I definitely have! But that price tag is obviously not do-able for everyone. After a sudden moment of inspiration from this old look of mine, I decided to DIY the look of the feather hem blazer with my fur vest, and blazer. I love the end result, and it is way warmer than just one layer thrown on! What do you guys think of this look?
