Birth Night

Ok, so these weren't taken at night, but I wanted to show you all what I wore out to dinner! The night was pretty casual; just some delicious food, and amazing friends to feast with. We went to Straw SF, which is where the wildest food dreams come true. Don't believe me? There was a film crew for "World's Weirdest Restaurants" filming there while we ate. You can catch it in Canada, or wait for my review, coming soon.
Onto the outfit. Nothing too spectacular, and sparkly like I had previously shown, but I think I nailed it for the occasion. Cute shirt-dress, fun tights, a little bit of jewelry, and a bright lip. Easy and put together. The only thing I could have done without was the belt, only so there would have been more room in my belly for more delicious weird food.

Birth Day

Just a quick outfit post before the festivities begin. I spent my day hanging out in South Park, shopping, and eating. A good relaxing way to spend the day. I've never been into the denim shirt look but I was convinced to try it, and I'm glad I did. They're quite comfy and stylish, just the way I like em :)

Currently Craving: Rachel Comey

Since it's my birthday tomorrow I thought I would show you what I would treat myself to as a birthday present, if I had the money, of course. Rachel Comey's shoes are effortlessly cool. Each style is easy to incorporate into any outfit, and I love that the heel height is generally modest, at about 3 inches. Three inches is about the highest height I can do before things get too wobbly and uncomfortable. Anyone out there with about $400 to spare, I'd greatly appreciate the gesture. I'm a size 8 ;)

What the Water Game Me

I'm a HUGE fan of Florence + The Machine. Not only is their music fantastic, but I've always thought Florence Welch's style was amazing. She has a knack for putting together fun colors, patterns, prints, and trends in an effortless manner. Last night, I was watching Florence + The Machine's BBC performance, found here, and I fell in love with her outfit. This is my take on it. The hat with the belted pattern dress was perfection, and I hope I did her look justice.

Leather Love

Hopefully everyone is nice and full from Turkey Day goodness! Now it's the weekend, and what more could you ask for other than a full stomach and a couple of days to relax?? No Black Friday for me!
I wore this outfit for Thanksgiving in Santa Cruz with Kyle's family. With all the amazing food to eat, what else is more appropriate to wear than an extremely baggy, oversized sweater? If you know me though, you know that I have to keep things a little edgy, and the leather sleeves couldn't be any cooler. Top it off with a new Pendleton hat and you got an outfit, my friends.

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Did you get some Black Friday deals?

Everyday Glitz

Nothing like a sequined blazer and great peep-toes to dress up a completely casual jeans and tee look. Inspired by the glam of the dresses I picked out as hypothetical/potential birthday dresses, I thought I should give my everyday look that treatment. A little sparkle can make anyone feel like a hundred bucks!

Hope everyone has a safe, family filled, fun filled, and food filled Thanksgiving!

Currently Craving: Birthday Dress

My 23rd birthday is officially in one week!!! It's not a milestone birthday or anything like that, but I'm excited to see all my friends in one place for a night. I'm not doing anything too extravagant; just a nice dinner with my favorite people, and maybe a bar afterwards. Pretty simple and low-key. I don't think I'm going to buy a "birthday" dress, I have plenty I could wear, but there a few dresses have caught my eye as possibilities for the occasion. These dresses are also things I would wear through the holiday season and into New Year's Eve.

This dress is simple but the velvet takes it up a notch. The navy color and sheen from the fabric makes it easy to pile on different colored accessories. I would pair this with bold jewelry everywhere and a sexy pair of patterned tights like these. Best of all it's warm!
I like the pattern on this dress, and I don't have a dress with this silhouette. I would wear this with a bold necklace, this belt, thick wool tights, and booties.

This dress is the quite party dress! It's beautiful, and I would feel amazing wearing it. Since it's so standout you would hardly need to accessorize. Simple smoky eye make-up, black tights, and a great pair of pumps would perfectly accent this dress.

This is the ultimate special occasion dress! No one can do embellishments better than AllSaints. Actually no one can do a lot of things better than them. I would initially buy this for New Year's, but my birthday is pretty special, and so is this dress, so it's a match made in heaven. Like the dress above, I would keep accessories to a bare minimum.

Mondays...

Mondays are hard ones. It's the beginning of the work-week and you have to get back into the swing of things. This Monday has been an especially difficult one for me on a mental level. I'm going through quite a few realizations and life-changes, ones I won't delve into here, that have kept my brain wheels going. Luckily, this week will be a short one, and at the end of it I will be able to eat my woes into oblivion (thank goodness for T-day!) To help me get through the day I Lushed out a bit. By that I mean I headed downtown for one purpose only; to spoil myself with Lush products. Call me a woman converted/obsessed! If you have a Lush near-by check it out. And if you don't want to commit to a product, ask for a sample, it AH-MAY-ZING!

Road Trip: Napa and Calistoga

This last Thursday Kyle and I decided to get out of the city for the day and explore what else this half of California has to offer. We've been getting more and more stir crazy lately, so getting out of the city is becoming a weekly thing. This time around we decided to drive through wine country. We drove through Calistoga, where we stopped for a bite, then through St. Helena, and lastly Napa Valley before heading back. It was a beautiful drive, and it felt like we were transported out of California and into a different state. The leaves were bright orange, yellow, and red, the air was crisp and cool, and the drive was absolutely wonderful. Anyone who lives in the bay area should definitely drive over to Calistoga within the next few weeks to see the last bits of Fall. Below are a few snapshots, but they really don't capture how beautiful it really was.

Swing

Earlier today I was sitting in my room listening to the rain really slam against my window. Two minutes later I looked outside and the sun was shining. That is my favorite kind of rainy weather, the kind where the sun makes a triumphant return. It brightens my mood and makes the gloom seem not as bad. It also is a real reminder that winter is slowly approaching, not that the growing count of layers on my body all at once isn't reminding me anyway. I don't know if it's a colder Fall/Winter transition this year, or if I just am not used to it, but I'm finding it very difficult to get the right combination of clothes for warmth. Below I'm wearing a new swingy cape coat. It's very warm and fun, so at least I can look cute while bundled up, which all that matters, right??
