Summer Showers?

Who would have thought I would have to break out my big umbrella when Summer started? Yesterday morning, after a beautiful Saturday, I woke up with fog so heavy, I couldn't see the houses across the street. It wasn't raining, but with the mist and wind, it may as well have been. What you see is what I wore yesterday to run some errands around the city. Basics, with fun layers, and a new varsity style jacket, that will be my go-to all season long!

Dressed Down Sequins

Happy Thursday everyone! I'm really looking forward to the weekend. I'll be traveling to LA for work all of next week, so I'm looking forward to relaxing, and maybe catching a movie.
Below was a quick look I put together, trying to once again dress down my sequin skirt. A denim jacket, and black flats were the perfect tools to do so!

Batik and Stripes

Saturday was such a beautiful day, I couldn't think about wearing anything other than this slouchy tank. Since the low arm-holes on the tank are a bit risky, I wanted to keep the bottom classic, with high waisted striped trousers. On top I added a scarf, to keep me a bit covered, and used that opportunity to clash patterns. I love the end result, and could easily swap out the tank for a basic tee for the office!

Incognito

If I were a famous person hiding from paparazzi this would probably be the kind of outfit I would do it in. This big floppy hat does a great job at hiding my face. Actually on second thought, I could barely see where I was going with this thing on, so maybe it's not the best idea...! Have a great weekend!

Double Denim

Nothing wrong with a little denim clash for an outfit, but if you're like me, and just a tad self conscious of the combo, break it up with a color! For me, a crisp white blazer, against cool blue hues just seemed so fresh and clean. I love the end result, how about you?

Have a great weekend!

March Must Haves

March Must Haves

Can you believe it's already nearly a week into March?! I certainly can't. I feel like I was posting New Year's Outfit Ideas just a couple of weeks ago. I guess it's not a bad thing though. Time flies when you're busy being productive, working towards something you love.
And since I've been working so hard, above are a few items I think I should treat myself to. I am absolutely loving Jenni Kayne's d'orsay flats. They are such a fun, unique, and chic take on the average flat, but unfortunately they are quite pricey. Elizabeth and James and Madewell have fun versions that are a little more pocket friendly :)
I've also been coveting a sharp statement blazer for a while, and though the Cavalli one above is definitely not reachable, Forever 21 has a great replacement version. What are you guys coveting lately?

Inspired

For those of you just tuning in, I was really inspired by this particular look from NYFW, so here is my version of it. Of course, there was no way I could fit any of my wool coats under my moto jacket, so I went for my trench coat. I really like the final result, even though with the hat it may have been a little too Indiana Jones, as a few co-workers may have mentioned ;)

Cocktail Hour

When it's freezing cold outside, and you have a nice event to go to after work, what do you do? LAYER! After work Monday night, I went to an event at Benefit Cosmetics, so I had to look decently cute, right? I wore a pretty peplum dress from Anthro, and layered a cropped cashmere sweater over it. A warm wool cocoon coat, fleece lined leggings, and knee high boots protect from the elements. Of course, I added a sparkly necklace, and bubblegum pink lip- it's Benefit Cosmetics after all!

Borrowed From The Boys

I absolutely love menswear. I think guys' outfits are just flat out cool. So I decided to emulate a masculine look, and make it a little feminine. I threw on a plain white tee, bf jeans and bf blazer as the main players for the look. A sparkly necklace and red lip are the feminizing pieces, and the booties are the final touch. What do you think of this borrowed from the boys look?

Getting Knitty

So this past weekend, the Sex and the City movie was on TV. I managed to tune in just as Carrie was in the phone booth, wearing an oversized sweater over a little dress, with booties, and knee high socks. I loved the look, so I decided to recreate it my way. I don't know if knee high socks are something I would wear like this often, but I did have fun being Carrie for a day.
