It's A Prep Thing

Sometimes, I think my sense of style evolves as frequently as presence of fog in SF, but I think that stands true for most people, which is why personal style is so beautiful and intimate for everyone. Previously, I would have looked to flowy dresses or skirts when the opportunity of baring some leg came up, but now I am way more appreciative of fit and structure, and find it more relative to me. The look below is layered, structured, and preppy, which my thing, currently.

Inspired

For those of you just tuning in, I was really inspired by this particular look from NYFW, so here is my version of it. Of course, there was no way I could fit any of my wool coats under my moto jacket, so I went for my trench coat. I really like the final result, even though with the hat it may have been a little too Indiana Jones, as a few co-workers may have mentioned ;)

Playing Tour Guide

My family came into town this past weekend to visit, so I played tour guide all weekend long. Though I've been living in San Francisco for nearly 8 years now, I'm still surprised at how much there is to do in this 7x7 city.

On the second day out, I wore this outfit; perfect combo of style and comfort. Black skinny pants are the perfect foundation for some pattern mixing, and tough layers. And of course, I threw on some classic loafers to get me through being on my feet all day.

Paisley

Sometimes, when I throw random things on together, it just happens to turn into an outfit I really like! Today turned out to be one of those days. I really do believe that the piece that is working overtime to pull it all together is the blue oxford. It sharpens the oversized jacket, and highlights the colors in the skirt, while adding a professional element that ties in the loafers. Don't you love pieces that can do so much to a look?? I do!

Subtle

You may recall that I was eyeing these trousers from H&M's Fall collection from this post. I loved the subtle texture and the skinny ankle cut. It's very modern, and I can see it as a professional closet staple for years. The day I wore this outfit, it started out particularly dreary, so a pop of color was needed to brighten up the day, and luckily a few hours later, the sun peeked through!

Autumn Is Here

This past Sunday was the first time, I feel, that it really felt like Fall in the city. The air was crisp, and there was a frigid breeze, but the skies were clear and beautiful. It's exactly the kind of weather I love. I decided to pull out all my favorite Fall textures. Tweed, wool, luxurious suede, and cozy cotton tees are my go to, to stay warm, comfy, yet chic.
