Denim Vest

A studded denim vest has never been something I thought I would find in my closet, but when this one came into work, I snagged it up, and have been throwing it over what feels like everything. Funny how things work sometimes. For this particular outfit, I liked the idea of going with a denim contrast, and topping it off with some leather to maintain the tough girl appeal.

Oh and I would love to give a big congrats to the San Francisco Giants for winning the World Series last night!!!

Trend-Spotting: Oxblood

The biggest color for Fall, in case you haven't noticed already, is oxblood! This rich burgundy hue has ben a favorite of mine for years, so I am glad it's finally in the spotlight. My favorite iterations come in rich leathers, and cozy thick knits, all in wearable, classic structures.

Never Prepared

For someone who has been living in San Francisco for close to 7 years, I still am very bad at preparing for unpredictable weather. Let me just say, bare legs in a down pour is not fun! Happy Friday!!

Retro Clash

Definitely felt a bit "pin-up" in this look, which is all good to me. I love a little vintage throwback every now and then. This sequin skirt is proving to be worth every penny, and is turing out to be much easier to style than I had initially thought. Pairing it with a clashing plaid flannel top, tied up at the waist created the perfect look for a day-night out.

Currently Craving: Blanket Stripes

Fall is always when I start looking at options for a new winter coat. Though I definitely don't need one, this blanket striped rag & bone coat has just shot up to my most coveted list! See what else I am craving on my pinterest board here!

How To: The J. Crew Roll

It's a well known fact that J. Crew has a very distinct, and very sought after sleeve roll. Well after much observation at the J. Crew store, I have figured out the secret, and have decided to share! The best part about the roll is that, unlike you average sleeve roll, this roll stays put all day long.

1) Start off with your sleeve as it would normally be.

2) Roll the sleeve so the cuff is about where you would want your roll to be.

3) Take the bottom of the roll and roll up again. (this is their trick). Make sure to stop the roll right under the cuff line.

4) Pull the cuff down, so the pattern shows. You can neaten it up by styling the cuff flat, or go for the messy look by having the cuff stick out a bit.

Autumn Is Here

This past Sunday was the first time, I feel, that it really felt like Fall in the city. The air was crisp, and there was a frigid breeze, but the skies were clear and beautiful. It's exactly the kind of weather I love. I decided to pull out all my favorite Fall textures. Tweed, wool, luxurious suede, and cozy cotton tees are my go to, to stay warm, comfy, yet chic.

Trend-Spotting: The Printed Suit

I am fully aware that this trend is one that is difficult to pull off for the everyday woman, but I still had to highlight it here, because, though I don't think I would ever wear it, I absolutely love the Printed Suit for what it is. It's taking menswear, and the print trend, putting them together, and making me fall in love all over again. Nina Garcia, and Emma Roberts (below) definitely are wearing a more wearable iteration of the look, and individually these pieces would fit in almost any closet. So you tell me, would you wear this look?

Make-Up

I've gotten a few e-mails about what my makeup routine is. Now, I'm no make-up expert, and stick to the same look, just amplified for different occasions, so I thought a brief run down of my favorite products would be fun!

For day I like to keep things light. I love Maybelline's BB Cream, and think it's a great alternative to tinted moisturizer. Since I get oily, Maybelline's Fit powder keeps shine at bay. For blush, I go back to Maybelline for the Dream Bounce Blush. I really am a fan of Maybelline products! Quality without the cost. Benefit's They're Real Mascara is a new find, and it works wonders! I love Poppy King's Lipstick Queen line, and Medieval gives the best, just bitten, natural lip tint.

Coco getting a close-up.

For night, the look I usually go for is basically the same. I swap out the BB Cream for Maybelline's Fit foundation, and add Benefit's Erase Paste for extra coverage. I go heavier on the eyeliner, and add some highlighter. My go to lip color for night is Poppy King for J. Crew. It's the perfect Red Coral color, and you see me wearing it often here.

Lipsticks are my weakness, and I love trying out new brands and colors. I have an assortment of Reds (left) Corals (middle) and Pinks (right).

Left: Poppy King Medieval, Poppy King for J. Crew, Poppy King Saint Red, Bite Tannin.
Middle: MAC Vegas Volt, Topshop Whimsical, Revlon Coral.
Right: Wet n Wild It's a Girl, Covergirl Fairytale, Bourjois Rose Croisette

I hope that answered some questions!

Screaming Tiger

I know. The name of the post is a bit unusual, if not aggressive. But it all has to do with the awesome necklace I am wearing! Created by a local artist, and gifted to me by Kyle, this necklace is named "screaming tiger". It's such an awesome piece I thought I should make it the focal point of the outfit. I tucked it under an neutral collared blouse, with a simple leather mini skirt, and some neutral brogues. The effect is minimal with a twist, and one that I came to love for it's ease, and crispness.
