Stripes and Sequins

I haven't shown this sequined skirt much love lately, which is unfortunate because I love it. If there was a fire I would save this, my cat, and my camera... and a bunch of other things. I think it mainly has to do with that fact that I didn't really know how to Winter-ize it, but silly me because this outfit makes it look so easy! Simple layers, and I mean layers, in neutral tones really let the opulence of this skirt stand out, which is the best part about the damned thing!

Check It Out!

Happy Friday everyone! I'd like you all to go check out What-The-Frock right now for a guest post I did about different new years outfits using the same awesome sequined skirt! Dana runs a great blog about celeb looks for less- among other things so I hope you guys stick around.

Below is a little bit of what you'll see there :)

Cozy New Years Look

If your ideal New Years involves a get together at a good friend's house, or an intimate dinner, try going the cozy route with your look... it is Winter after all! A thick chunky sweater worn casually over the skirt will keep you feeling warm all night. Add some walkable booties, and cute ankle socks for extra warmth, and you got yourself an adorable little number that will have people envious. For a finishing touch, add a statement necklace, and you're good to go!

New Years Wears

New Years Wears

Though I love sequins all year round, done subtly of course, New Years Eve is the perfect time to bust out some glitz. I've put together a lust vs. must outfit for  New Years, and could see myself wearing both... given certain circumstances. This ombre Matthew Williamson dress is so festive and I love the ombre effect. I kept everything simple with the outfit- letting the dress shine. For the more feasible look, I kept the color scheme the same, and also kept the ombre element with a casual denim shirt. It dresses down the skirt, and once again, I kept everything else simple to let the sequins do their job.

Retro Clash

Definitely felt a bit "pin-up" in this look, which is all good to me. I love a little vintage throwback every now and then. This sequin skirt is proving to be worth every penny, and is turing out to be much easier to style than I had initially thought. Pairing it with a clashing plaid flannel top, tied up at the waist created the perfect look for a day-night out.

Stripes and Sequins

This skirt seems to be all I need to brighten another dull day in the office. Looking at the skirt initially, I didn't think I could fit it into my wardrobe, never mind wear it to my office. However, you can always count on denim to dress anything down!

Office Glitz

Who says sequins are too much for the office? I decided to be a little celebratory of it being a Friday, and wore my awesome sequined skirt. I though it paired beautifully with the jacket that Stitch Fix sent over as part of my monthly fix. While everything in my fix was a winner (dresses, tops and jewels!) this jacket had me hands down. The boxy fit was so classic, while the gold zips and color blocking added a fun modern twist. Very me- those girls get me!

Sign up here- you may never know, this jacket could end up in your fix!

New Year's Outfit Ideas

I don't know about you guys, but I'm super excited about New Year's Eve this year. My favorite part is that it gives you the perfect excuse to be all out festive with your attire, and what is more glam, and festive than sequins? You may have gotten a quick preview due to blogger error, but below I have three outfit sets that I have created all featuring one sequined item. I hope it inspires you to wear sequins no matter where and how you end up celebrating :)

new years 2

This is the most casual outfit of the three. If I were to go out to dinner with friends, and end up at someone's house party to celebrate the coming of the new year, this is what I would wear. The chambray shirt keeps things casual even though the skirt, jewelry and shoes scream party. A pop of leopard is always festive, and I would tie in this look by throwing my hair up in a messy pony, and swiping on some red or hot pink matte lipstick.

new years 1

This is something I would wear to a fancy bar/lounge, like Bourbon & Branch here in San Francisco. I love the tuxedo inspiration behind it. The bows on the platform shoes help play up the tux look, while keeping things feminine at the same time. I added a bright clutch for a pop of color. I would either pull my hair up into a ballerina bun and wear plum or burgundy lipstick with this look, or wear my hair in loose waves and swipe on some bright red lipstick.

new years 3

This final set is the most glam, and something you could wear to a more upscale event. The sequined dress is loose fitted and short so I added opaque black tights for modesty, and a blazer to help add a waistline. The color scheme is similar to the tux look above, so I added earrings in a similar shade as the clutch for a pop of color. I would wear my hair half up with this look, and add a smoky eye and nude lip to pull it all together.
