Trend-Spotting: Gladiator

Trend-Spotting: Gladiator

Perfect for pairing with your pretty Summer dresses, gladiator sandals add a tough edge to any look. I love a heeled version for the evening, and a flat brown one for the day. How would you work this look?

Trend-Spotting: Summertime Romp

Trend-Spotting: Summer Rompers

For Summer, I love wearing rompers. Now, we all know rompers are inconvenient, especially in public bathrooms (har har), but how can you say 'no' to such a fun silhouette. A denim version is great for casual outings, treat it like your tee and denim short combo. A pretty printed one is perfect for brunch, or even a casual day-time party, just like a printed sun dress. A great structured black romper is great for dinner and drinks, just like your favorite LBD. I would love to incorporate any or all of the above options in my closet. Would you?

Trensd-Spotting: Parisian Flair

Trend-Spotting: Parisian Flair

Lately I've been noticing a lot of Parisian influences in outfits while people watching on the streets. It's definitely a style I love, as it's so classic, clean, and still fashionable. Above is something I would wear to have the same feel, but in warmer weather you can swap the pants for a flippy skirt, the tee for a tank, and the scarf for a pretty necklace. Would you wear this??

Trend-Spotting: Caring where your clothes come from.

I have a trend-spotting post that is a little different for you all today. It's about transparency. I've known about Everlane.com for a while now, but just this past week, I was able to meet and speak with the CEO about why Everlane exists. What I learned had me begin questioning where my clothing comes from. Just a note, this post is not sponsored in anyway, this is my opinion 100%.

We live in a time where fast fashions are the majority of what we buy and wear. This also means most of us don't know where our clothes come from, and who made them. Everlane exposes all of this with each product they create. You know the factory, and even better you know the cost of making each design. As of now they carry basics, that they define as something anyone would wear now, and 20 years from now. Think quality tees, silk blouses, and great travel bags.

Why I wanted to let you guys know about this great company, is because it has me second guessing the way I shop for clothing; mainly basics. Next time I want a silk blouse, or a new belt, I'll be going to Everlane versus the nearest big retailer. I can't promise I would think this way about every purchase, especially of the moment trend pieces, but at least I know the items I plan on wearing for years to come, came from a good place, and for a fair price.

Trend-Spotting: Tropical Bombers

Trend-Spotting: Tropical Bombers

I've been noticing a lot of late 80's early 90's fashions influencing trends as of late. Mainly, I've been seeing a lot of tropical prints; think palm leaves, floral, etc. I really like the idea of wearing a loud bomber over a simple tee and jeans, with sneakers on a casual evening. To make the look more modern, pay attention to fit, wear with slim dark denim, and keep your make-up fresh!

Trend-Spotting: Touch Of Punk

Trend-Spotting: Punk Details

Well if the Met Gala wasn't enough to convince you, punk is making a come-back! No need to go full on tough with the trend, but incorporating little things, like leather details, studs, plaid, and lived in band tee-shirts, personalizes a look just enough. I personally love adding little details like this, especially when I'm headed to one of Kyle's shows.

Trend-Spotting: Voluminous Midi Skirts

Trend-Spotting: Voluminous Midi Skirts

A very fun and feminine trend I am noticing is voluminous midi skirts, and it's so perfect for dressy Spring and Summer events. Christian Dior is known for this silhouette, but Tibi brought out a wearable version that hit the streets all over the world. Would you wear this look?

Trend-Spotting: Bright n' Bold

Trend Spotting: Bright and Bold

Bright and bold prints are the perfect way to make a statement with your outfit, without piling on the usual layers you would otherwise. Personally, I love florals for Spring, but that's a given. Fun geo prints, and paisley are great alternatives to brighten up your look!

Trend-Spotting: Royal Blue

I absolutely loved the Fall 2013 L'Wren Scott collection! What stood out to me the most was his use of the color Royal Blue. Combining it with beautiful embellishments, and opulent golds was genius, gorgeous, and refreshing. Since then, I've been seeing royal blue popping up here and there, and I think it's a fantastic color for Spring! I would love to imitate the above combination in a more street style friendly way; maybe for a date night look? Below you can shop shop royal blue pieces, at both an investment price-point, and a budget friendly version. My favorite find is the Zara pumps- they are beautiful and under $100!

Trend-Spotting: Pastel Leather

Trend-Spotting: Pastel Leathers

As the weather gets warmer, I've been seeing more and more pastel colors on the street, and while that's no surprise, the new iterations are quite refreshing. My favorite is the pastel leather jacket. It combines femininity, and toughness at a nice balance, and if I were to pick a color, I would love the light coral color.

Trend-Spotting: Sherpa

I may be jumping the gun a bit on this one- but a HUGE trend I noticed at the Fall '13 collections was the use of sherpa outerwear, like Paul & Joe, above. Even though we are nearing Spring, now is the perfect time to invest in a sherpa piece, that is heavily discounted. I really love the utility version from Lacoste below!

Trend-Spotting: Tuxedo Chic

Trend-Spotting: Tuxedo Chic

I LOVE the tuxedo look I've been seeing on the red-carpet, and most recent fashion shows- so here is how I would wear the look. Just finish it off with a bold red lip, cat-eye, and slicked back hair!

Hope you all had a great weekend!
