Bright and bold prints are the perfect way to make a statement with your outfit, without piling on the usual layers you would otherwise. Personally, I love florals for Spring, but that's a given. Fun geo prints, and paisley are great alternatives to brighten up your look!

Crisp
Light weight layers, light and bright colors, and crisp, clean lines are all I can see in my future for Spring dressing. I'm so glad I could preview my future outfit formula while basking in the warm LA sun. The white linen blazer is such a closet staple- every woman should own one that fits like a glove. It will transform almost any outfit!

In Blooms
I'm really excited to have this outfit up today because I love this look. After this post, I wanted to show that floral pants are easily wearable, and can be transitioned into your closet effortlessly. I wore this out to dinner with Jessica and Ashley this past weekend. A chambray shirt tones down the bold pattern of the pants, and neutral black sandals have the same effect. For a little glitz I added a gold collar necklace under the blouse so it would only peek out now and then. A neutral gray coat tops everything off and keeps you warm.

Trend-spotting: Floral Pants

J. Crew.
It's a no brainer that the #1 trend for Spring is florals. It's something you can bet on since it is so for sure, but this upcoming season we are seeing a new interpretation of how to incorporate this ditzy print into your outfits. Floral and printed trousers have been seen all over the runways, and on celebrities during fashion week, and although it may turn out to be a fleeting trend, I'm hopping on the bandwagon while it's hot. Who's with me? Just pair them with a crisp neutral button up and pointy toe heels, or a slouchy t-shirt and some great flats.

Winter Florals
In an effort to hold onto the idea that Spring is just around the corner, despite the temperature, I wore my flounciest, brightest, most Spring appropriate dress...with a few layers of course. With the popularity of button-up blouses under sweaters holding strong, I thought why not translate the concept to dresses? It's the perfect way to add warmth, and some quirkiness, to your favorite sundress. The best part is that unlike a sweater layered over the dress, the blouse under allows you to show off the dress in it's entirety.

DIY: Spring Jewels
Here is how to do it: All you need it 10 spare minutes, white nail polish, 3 or four bright, opaque nail polish colors, and a necklace with crystals you're willing to colorize. I bought this one at Forever 21 for a few dollars, and they have other great options. Check out H&M as well for some other options.
First put a generous coat of white polish over all the crystals you plan to color.
Once the white polish is dry, take your colored polishes, and paint in whatever pattern you like. If you have a metallic color (I did-purple) you want to wait and do a second coat for complete coverage.
That's it! Told you it would be easy. Place it somewhere out of the way, and let it dry over-night just to be safe, and it should be ready to wear in the morning.

Clash, clash
I hope your weekend was nice and relaxing! I'm back in San Francisco, and exhausted. Today was intense since I literally had to fly home, unpack, and go to work. Phew- glad it's over. I didn't get as many outfit pics as I wanted to/would have liked to/could have, while I was in LA, so here is the last documented outfit I wore. It's pretty busy, and there's definitely pattern play here, but I liked the two together. The floral skirt is on trend for Spring 2012, and I thought the plaid shirt would be fun to pair it with. To keep things from getting too mixed up, a thick black belt helped separate the two patterns. Have a happy Monday!

Spring Showers
With on and off sprinkles yesterday, I found it comfortable to wear a more Spring appropriate outfit. The generally sunny day inspired me to pull out some color, and while they don't necessarily match, I thought that they complimented each other quite well. The shoes have to be my favorite part of the outfit, because from the front they look like plain black pumps, but from the side they are a work of wooden art. I found these guys at nearly 75% off their original Anthropologie price at Jeremy's. Love that store!

Jumping into Spring
Although San Francisco saw a sudden drop in temperature yesterday, I was comfortably wearing this Spring-y outfit on Friday, sandals and all. Winter has finally arrived, just as I was getting excited for Spring wear :( I've always liked looser fits, and wispy layers for Spring, and I think my trousers (yes, trousers again) and blouse speak to that. I layered a cropped cashmere sweater over the whole look because sometimes I feel I know San Francisco's weather "moodiness" better than I know myself...
