Mash-Up

Hey everyone! The below outfit is a mash-up of two styles I usually gravitate towards. I love edgier/boho styles, however, at the end of the day, I consider my style still pretty classic. I felt the below outfit had a healthy mix of two. A silk button down layered over a sweater, with blue jeans, is pretty classic, however, the hat, braid, and jewels, add a more urban boho feel. It was a great outfit to run some errands in over the weekend.

The Formula

I've come to realize, that when I want a simple, and streamlined look, I always turn to a silk oversized blouse, and dark, sometimes coated, jeans. I always play with colors, and accessories, but the foundation is there, and I've found it to be my personal fail-proof look. With a simple swap of shoes and accessories, it's great for work, a date night, a casual weekend day, etc. Do you have an outfit formula you always go to? I'd love to know!

Hot Pink

Hot pink is the epitome of "girly", so when I wear the color I like to take it out of it's element. I'll pair it with boyfriend jeans, messy layers, and in this case, all black, with a hint of edge, just to keep the color more me. That way, I feel as though I am wearing the color, not the other way around.

Trend-Spotting: Royal Blue

I absolutely loved the Fall 2013 L'Wren Scott collection! What stood out to me the most was his use of the color Royal Blue. Combining it with beautiful embellishments, and opulent golds was genius, gorgeous, and refreshing. Since then, I've been seeing royal blue popping up here and there, and I think it's a fantastic color for Spring! I would love to imitate the above combination in a more street style friendly way; maybe for a date night look? Simplicity Is Best

I've been so inspired by the simple, yet super chic outfits Parisian women have showcased at PFW, that I had to take a look at some outfits of mine, and scale back a bit. Take away the layers, accessories, and unnecessary add-ons, and you are left with a perfectly polished look. Especially when using quality timeless pieces. This outfit consists of five main things: A silk blouse, a wool statement coat, black pants, a black bag, and black heels. Love the end result.

Cable Knit

I truly believe that cardigans are more versatile than you would think. For this outfit, instead of throwing on a blazer, for work, like I normally would, I thought a cable knit cardigan, with elbow patch details, would be the perfect alternative. It makes the look a little more casual, without losing any professionalism. Cardigans don't always have to be a cover-up, they too can make an outfit!

In The Trenches

Although I know in San Francisco we will be seeing an Indian Summer in the next few months, I am still getting excited for crisp Fall air. This outfit is a little preview of my Fall uniform. A silk blouse, simple trench, and comfy jeans will be a go to for me.

It's so important to have basics always ready to go in your closet. For days where you hit the ground running, it really helps to reach for a simple silk button up, skinny ankle jeans, and black pumps to get you out the door ASAP.

Trend-Spotting: White It Out

One of my favorite warm weather looks is an all white outfit. This season, they are all the rage! They are the chicest, and cleanest blank canvas to work with. The only downside; stains- so be careful! Below, I put together an all white outfit, with some colorful add-on options. I love that the amazing McQueen blazer and jeans are a similar off white shade, subtly contrasting the stark white blouse. I added pointy toe shoes with a metallic detail from Zara, as the last white piece. For some pops of color choose either between a statement earring or necklace, add retro cat-eye sunglasses, and a bold red lip. I also added a crazy clutch as an option as well.
