On the Road: Vegas

My family decided on a last minute trip to Vegas. I'll try to post regularly, but the internet here is pretty spotty. I hope everyone has a lovely week!

Snuggle Up

My hometown has some of the best views. Every turn down a street you get great city, ocean, and canyon views. Sometimes, coming home makes you appreciate the little things that you normally wouldn't think of. As for my outfit today; I just kept it simple, and nothing is easier than throwing on a maxi dress. Top and bottom all in one? Count me in :)

Red Hot Cheetah

I've been trying to experiment with layers, textures, silhouettes and prints much more as of late. It allows you to play with the items you have. In the outfit below I decided to use a full dress as just a skirt, to add more interest with patterns and colors I have in other items. My favorite part is the pop of cheetah coming out through the rich hued sweater.

Movement

Something about putting on a flowy maxi helps make a casual outfit more interesting. I wore this a few days ago. It was pouring today, so no chance of me getting a picture. Plus, I was bumming it today. Coming home for a vacation sometimes brings out the sloth in me.

Product Review: New Hair Routine

For this post, I wanted to let you guys in on a fairly new hair routine I have. You see, I have very curly hair, that I obviously style straight on a daily basis. This means that my hair sees a lot of heat, and therefore is very dry. I've been trying different products for years to try and combat the damage I cause, to bring my hair back to health. I think I've finally stumbled upon a routine that has left my hair softer, shinier, and healthier than it's been it years. So, I have listed what I've been using, and how, and hopefully anyone out there with crazy tresses will want to give this a try.

Lush Godiva Shampoo: This shampoo smells great and leaves my hair feeling incredible. It's a 2+1 shampoo/ conditioner, so it's very moisturizing, but I still use a conditioner after washing my hair with this.

Lush Trichomania Shampoo: I use this on days that my hair really needs moisture. It has a lot of coconut oil in it, and leaves my hair clean, shiny, soft, and voluminous.

Lush American Cream Conditioner: In the shower, this doesn't feel like it's doing a great job at repairing your hair. Once your hair is dry, though, you can see and feel the difference. It doesn't leave your hair feeling coated with chemicals; the oils are actually absorbed into your hair. It also smells amazing, and you can see the vanilla bits in the conditioner.

Moroccan Oil: I rub a hint of this oil in between my palms and smooth it on my hair right after I hop out of the shower. It is moisturizing, but mainly helps protect from styling damage.

Lush R&B Hair Treatment: I put a pea-sized amount of this in my hair once it is styled, concentrating on the ends. This stuff is a miracle worker. If there is one thing on this list that you would want to try, this would be it.

Lush Jasmin and Henna Fluff Eaze: Mentioned in this post, I use this about once a month as a pre wash treatment for my hair. I definitely swear by this, but can understand how much of a hassle it may seem to be.

As you can see, I've made quite a transition over to Lush products, and I'm quite pleased that everything works incredibly well, and I'm being healthier about what I'm putting on my body on a daily basis. Using all of this also can seem to be kind of pricey, and while my specific routine is probably more excessive than most, these things do last a long long time, especially Moroccan Oil and R&B. Is there a beauty routine you guys couldn't live without? I'd love to hear all about it!

Take Two

The one reason I would ever dislike traveling would have to be packing. It's not that I hate packing, but I'm horrible at it. The outfit below is proof of that. That's the same blouse from this post. Somehow, I forgot to pack enough neutral blouses, and by enough I mean more than one. So, I made it work. On a positive note; I'm sure you've noticed my boots. They're new for me. After my Rachel Comey post, I found these at a consignment store for more than 50% off retail. That was ridiculous luck for me.

Vest and Blouse: Gap. Short: Sanctuary via Marshalls. Tights: H&M. Boots: Rachel Comey. Sunglasses: Ray Ban. Necklace and Belt: Vintage.

Essential

It's funny that during the first couple of days in LA the weather was gorgeous, and then all of a sudden it started raining! I mean, I left SF and was expecting the sun, and some warmth. Fall and Winter don't exist down here!!! Good thing one of the items I always pack is a warm cashmere sweater of some sort. It is a closet and travel essential! It's not cold enough for a coat here, so this is the perfect layer. The shape of the sweater is also quite awkward, but that's why I gravitated towards it. Also, this Pendleton hat is so awesome. It's crushable and waterproof, there is no way I can ruin this thing.

Cashmere Sweater: Anthropologie. Tank: Banana Republic. Jeans: Gap. Boots: Rachel Comey. Hat: Pendleton. Necklace: World Market.
