TGIF!

Aren't you guys so happy it's Friday?!?! For me this means I have only 2 more days until my weekend starts, and I'm excited for it because on Sunday I plan to hit up Jeremey's 60% off Fall sale :) For those of you in the Bay area, there is one location in SF and one in Berkeley and I highly recommend you checking it out. It's like a Marshall's or Loehmann's on steroids. Designer and casual wear highly discounted.

As for my outfit; I have an incredibly busy day (hence the one picture) so I thought of doing comfortable layers. Think airport chic. My favorite stretchy jeans and 3/4 sleeve top with fun layers to put it all together.

Sweater: ByCorpus via Jeremey's ($4!!!!). Scarf: Handmade by me. Shirt: Target. Jeans: Forever 21. Boots: Luxury Rebel via Nordtroms. Necklace: Gifted. Bag: Lucky Penny.

Tuesday Bluesday

I woke up this morning and realized it's only Tuesday. How very disappointing that it isn't even the middle of the week yet! I'm looking forward to Sunday (that is actually when my weekend starts), and maybe some sunnier weather. It was quite beautiful yesterday, even early in the morning. I woke up earlier than I normally would have to have the last breakfast with my friend Justine since she has now officially moved to Chicago. I dropped her off at the airport, and it was weird to know I wouldn't be living blocks away from her anymore, as I have been for the past 5 or so years.

Onto my outfit... I really don't have too much to say about it. It's chillier than yesterday today, so I basically layered on my current comfy favorites. And my new leather jacket, of course. I may live in this until the rain starts. Which reminds me, does any one know if it's ok to put leather protectant on a jacket? Any recommendations?

Jacket: Gap. Sweater: Nordstrom Rack. Dress worn as skirt: H&M. Tights: Hue via Anthropologie. Boots: Corso Como. Scarf: Anthropologie. Bag: Lucky Penny. Sunglasses: Ray Ban.

I hope every one had a lovely weekend! Sunday evening my friends and I finally did a photo-shoot! I had no idea what kind of outfits I should have packed at the time, but I'm super happy with the 9 outfits we all came up with. After three plus hours we got tons of pictures and once they're all edited I will be able to get my hands on them. I had Kyle take some behind the scenes shots, so until then I will leave you guys with some of these pictures.

Easy Breezy

Have you ever had one of those days where you stand in front of your closet for what may seem like an eternity trying to figure out what to wear? Today was one of those days. I don't know if it's because I have some new pieces that I want to wear all at once but can't, or if it is because of this bi-polar weather, or even because I wish I could wear my comforter out for ...well... comfort. In situations like this I stick to the basics; jeans, sweater, and a jacket. You can never go wrong with easy layers that you can dress up with some accessories.

Rosy

Here is a quick look at what I am wearing today. I know, they weren't taken in the most interesting location, but I had no photographer today so I had to make do...

Anyway, onto my outfit. Last night while online window shopping I was looking at a pair of gray wool shorts paired with gray tights, and I thought to myself "Hey, I have those. I can do that!" So here it is, gray shorts with gray tights, but I decided to swap out a plain pair of gray tights for a pair of rose patterned ones to spice things up. To add further interest to the outfit I put on a bright sweater and a patterned scarf.

Casual Cool

After what felt like waiting forever, I finally received my package from Gap where I ordered two leather jackets. If you remember, I wasn't sure which one I was going to keep because I liked so much about both, but as soon as I put them on I knew the tan one was a keeper. It just felt good on. It fit well, the leather was soft, and the color is an easy shade to match with pretty much everything in my closet. While it may not seem as edgy as the black one, I can see this jacket pulling its own in many looks and outfits. The hunt is finally complete! And here is the first simple casual outfit with my new jacket :)

Fashionable Friends: Kim

I'm very excited to introduce a new series to PostGradChic. Fashionable Friends is a way to get some variety in sense of style into the blog. I realize that some of the things I wear and put together may not be for everyone. It could be aesthetically pleasing, but not something someone would personally want to put on, so I thought of bringing in some friends, who have a wonderful sense of style that may not be exactly the same as mine.

First up is my friend Kim. What I love about Kim's sense of style is that while it may be casual and comfy for the most part, she mixes textures, patterns, and colors like a pro to keep an otherwise simple outfit visually interesting. In her outfit below I love how the bold pattern of the sweater is showcased, and a skirt in a complimenting shade helps balance the rest of the outfit out. It's comfortable, cozy and put together at the same time. Another thing Kim is good at is thrifting. She manages to find some awesome things, like her sweater and bag below.

Sweater: Thrifted. Button up: Target. Skirt: American Apparel. Bag: Thrifted.

Kimono

Recently this dress went on sale, and if you don't remember I had a post a few months ago stating that I absolutely needed it. Well, the sale gods were on my side because I got my little hands on this piece right before it sold out, and boy am I glad I did. This dress has a beautiful vibrant pattern, and the kimono style cut is oh so flattering. I can see myself wearing this through each season because it can be styled in so many different ways. Below you can see me sporting a casual Fall look. I can't wait to style this dress for a night out soon! Next night out this dress will be a go-to!

notice the chair has two legs... it was free on the street and if it wasn't missing any legs it may have come home with me :)

Also, lately I've been thinking about starting a new series for the blog. I have so many fashionable friends with such amazing taste I think that it would be wonderful to showcase each of their individual styles as well for some variation. Maybe I'll start out with one friend a month. How do you all feel about that???

Date Night

A date is always a reason to try harder, and for me that usually means wearing a skirt/dress. I always feel that much dressier when I have a skirt and heels on. I guess it makes me feel more womanly, and like I actually tried.

Cola Colored

A Fall trend that I'm quickly becoming a fan of is colored pants/denim. It may have something to do with 2 new pairs I scored at H&M for less that $13 each. Once again, way to go H&M, you're certainly impressing me with your new arrivals.
Dark colored pants are easier to pull off than brighter ones, and most can act as a neutral, like these dark green ones. If you find yourself looking to try out this trend try a dark green, burgundy, brown, or burnt orange variation. I find these colors pretty easy to pair with whatever you may have in your closet already, and they are a great pop to any outfit. I'm sporting the dark green pair today with a burnt orange collard top and a rust sweater.

Chameleon. Me and that garage door are a perfect match!

Vested

I'm gonna be honest with you here, I did not wear the following outfit today. I haven't even worn this in the past week. This is something I wore when I was back in LA that I just haven't posted yet. So why did I post this now? Because I wish I was wearing this now. The sun and weather are teasing me. One minute it's sunny and hot, the next it's overcast and freezing. This fickle weather is messing with my mood and I think I'm coming down with a case of SAD. So, if the weather decided to stay nice and warm I would wear this. If not, I have plenty of newly acquired sweaters in cool colors that I would love to sport. You hear me San Francisco???

Glitter Girl

The sun is out and the temperatures are rising! Although I would love to continue wearing my cozy knits and layers, I never mind a little bit of sun and warmth. And so, I decided to celebrate the sun by sporting a festive blazer. A sequined blazer! This may be the kind of thing you wouldn't wear unless you were having a night on the town, but I think that wearing sequins is something that can be worn for any occasion, and no occasion. As long as it's done with some taste, of course.
