Subtle

You may recall that I was eyeing these trousers from H&M's Fall collection from this post. I loved the subtle texture and the skinny ankle cut. It's very modern, and I can see it as a professional closet staple for years. The day I wore this outfit, it started out particularly dreary, so a pop of color was needed to brighten up the day, and luckily a few hours later, the sun peeked through!

In The Trenches

Although I know in San Francisco we will be seeing an Indian Summer in the next few months, I am still getting excited for crisp Fall air. This outfit is a little preview of my Fall uniform. A silk blouse, simple trench, and comfy jeans will be a go to for me.

Suede

The only good thing about living in San Francisco in the Summertime, and it's lack of a legitimate Summer, is that when all the Winter and Fall items hit super sale, you can still wear them for the next few months, instead of having to wait it out. Take this gorgeous burnt rose suede skirt from Madewell. The price dropped just as San Francisco's temperatures did, giving me the perfect chance to snatch it up and wear it right away. For today I paired it with a light chambray shirt, trench coat, and Madewell heels, making this appropriate for a day in the office, and for a fancy dinner afterwards.

Sneak Peek: H&M Fall 2012

H&M released their Fall 2012 line-up, and it's the perfect marriage of minimalism, and edgy. I'm loving the bold silhouettes, and dark colors. I am also really impressed with their accessories line up as well. Here are the items I'm going to be on the hunt for come Fall.

Poncho

I hope everyone had a smooth Monday. I was woken up by a 4.0 earthquake at 5am, which happened to indicate how the rest of my day was going to go. Did any of you feel the earthquake in the Bay Area?

After a sunshiny weekend, the fog rolled in, which I was actually excited for because I've been meaning to wear this exact outfit. Inspired by Steven Alan's Fall 2011 look book, I thought a poncho over a short dress was a fun and flirty look, all while maintaining warmth. I love how the color and print of the dress peeks out from under the poncho, adding some visual interest to an otherwise gray and oversized look.

Big Green Fuzzy Monster

The weather today was disgusting. It was so misty and foggy that it was pretty much like it was raining, except instead of it falling straight down to the ground, it hangs out in your face. I'm not a fan. I haven't been able to break out this coat due to the unusually drier and warmer Fall/Winter we have been having, but I'd like to introduce you to my big green fuzzy monster coat. This thing is my go to all weather coat. It's ridiculously warm, and it is surprisingly water proof. The best part, and my favorite part, is that it has a giant hood. It's perfect for feeling snuggly on a particularly dreary day.

I'll be in Lake Tahoe for New Year's Eve, and for a day or two after, and although there is no snow, I'm looking forward to the quick getaway. I'm wishing you all a happy, safe, and fun New Year's! And if you're stumped on what to wear, check out this post for some inspiration :) Pin It

Swing

Earlier today I was sitting in my room listening to the rain really slam against my window. Two minutes later I looked outside and the sun was shining. That is my favorite kind of rainy weather, the kind where the sun makes a triumphant return. It brightens my mood and makes the gloom seem not as bad. It also is a real reminder that winter is slowly approaching, not that the growing count of layers on my body all at once isn't reminding me anyway. I don't know if it's a colder Fall/Winter transition this year, or if I just am not used to it, but I'm finding it very difficult to get the right combination of clothes for warmth. Below I'm wearing a new swingy cape coat. It's very warm and fun, so at least I can look cute while bundled up, which all that matters, right??

Throwback

This skirt has quickly become one of my favorites. I have to restrain myself from reaching for it on a regular basis, and by that I mean almost daily. The outfit made be feel super retro and vintage-y even though all the pieces are current and pretty modern. I feel like I should be in Europe, in the Fall, during the 40's or something. Not the best timing to be in Europe either...
I like integrating warm season pieces within cold weather appropriate outfits because 1) it keeps things interesting, and 2) It makes me feel super savvy for spending how much I spent on it and wearing it year round. It's win win for me.

Rust and Ice

I don't know how this happened, but one day I'm walking around in light layers quite comfortably, and now it is FREEZING. Like chilled to the bone cold. I think I may have forgotten how to dress for the cold weather, or I just am not used to it, being spoiled by the amazing weather. Either way, as excited as I was for Fall, I'm being a total baby about it. Ask anyone who has been around me; it's a shame, really. Good thing I stumbled upon this amazing coat the other day. It's very warm and heavy and in the perfect Fall color. Would you believe it is from Target? Or that is was under $70? Yeah, amazing, I know.

Autumnal

Last night was so incredibly foggy that when you looked outside it had looked like it rained. That's what a real SF Fall night will do. So of course I had to wear my dress that I think is the perfect representation of autumn. Its brown shade and floral pattern reminds me of fallen leaves, and it just makes me want to sit by a fire with some hot chocolate :)
