Devil's Teeth Baking Co.

My Sunday morning routine lately has been waking up and heading straight to Devil's Teeth Baking Co., in the Outer Sunset District. A very good friend told me about their Sunday morning beignets, so I had to try them myself that next morning. These beignets are little pillows of heaven in a greasy paper bag, just the way I like them. They are straight out of the fryer, super warm, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and covered in a sinful amount of powdered sugar. If you're in the area, stop by before noon because they run out fast. Also try their breakfast sandwich, which comes on a ridiculously delicious and buttery biscuit, or the carrot cake, that has the perfect amount of cream cheese frosting (my favorite).

Neutral

Just stopping by for a quick hello, and outfit post update. This outfit is basically made up of versatile basics. The booties from Madewell are proving to be super comfy, and the perfect everyday shoe. Also, this outfit reminds me to mention that the next time you head over to a store with a men's section, do browse it a bit. Most of the clothing is too ill fitting on my petite frame, but I've found some great accessories for dirt cheap, like this fantastic brown leather belt from Banana Republic.

Red Carpet Round-Up: 2012 Oscars

The biggest Red-Carpet event of the year, The Oscars, aired last night, and this girl was giddy. I love, love, love seeing the stars bring their best to the red carpet during this event, and I can't say that I was dissapointed. Here are my top 5 picks for best dressed. On the red carpet we saw a lot of color, and a lot of glitz, but these ladies made those trends their own, and dominated.

Leave it to last year's best actress winner to be a winner on the red-carpet last night. Natalie Portman wore a gorgeous polka dot Christian Dior Haute Couture gown from 1954, and I thought it was perfect for her. The classic silhouette is occasion appropriate, but the bright color, and pattern play up the fun and youthfulness of the gown. The gorgeous diamond necklace, and drop earring were the perfect touch, and frame her face wonderfully.

Emma Stone looked lovely in this crimson gown. The neck-tie has the daring effect that she seems to gravitate towards, and pulls off so well. Her simple hair and make-up allow the gown to really make the statement, and the earrings, bracelet, and clutch add the perfect amount of glitz to her glam.

I haven't been a fan of Rooney Mara's past red-carpet looks, but I am so glad she knocked this one out of the park in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture Gown (you may have seen it on the Spring 2009 runway). The construction of the gown is exquisite, and has amazing details, especially at the bust, and fits her absolutely perfectly. The stark white color compliments her beautiful skin tone, hair, and make-up, and the lack of accessories is just perfect. This gown is something a girl can only dream of wearing on her wedding day- absolute ethereal perfection.

Usually, if you wear a glitzy dress, I say leave out the accessories, but Rose Byrne has proven me wrong. The black sequined gown is Hollywood glam at it's finest, and fits her perfectly. The Chanel drop earrings are amazing, her bracelet and cocktail ring are so fun, and her clutch is the perfect addition. Her make-up and hair compliment the look nicely and round out the edginess of it all, but my favorite detail is the ballerina pink nails; they soften the overall look just enough. Plus, she was hilarious on stage... "Scorsese!"

This may have to be my favorite look of the night. Best Actress nominee, Michelle Williams, wasn't afraid to standout in this coral layered confection. The construction of the gown is phenomenal, and makes petite Michelle look statuesque. The diamond necklace, and brooch at the peplum are lovely glam accents, and I love that she added more color with the pink clutch, and matching pink lips. Her dewy skin just glows in this get-up, and although she didn't win best actress, she won best dressed in my book!

Trend-spotting: Floral Pants

J. Crew.

It's a no brainer that the #1 trend for Spring is florals. It's something you can bet on since it is so for sure, but this upcoming season we are seeing a new interpretation of how to incorporate this ditzy print into your outfits. Floral and printed trousers have been seen all over the runways, and on celebrities during fashion week, and although it may turn out to be a fleeting trend, I'm hopping on the bandwagon while it's hot. Who's with me? Just pair them with a crisp neutral button up and pointy toe heels, or a slouchy t-shirt and some great flats.

Orange Pop

TGIF!!! I'm so glad it's the weekend. It's been a rough week and I need to unwind.

I'm wearing my cashmere skirt again. It's one of my favorite pieces of all time, though it is quite delicate, so I make sure to wear it sparingly. This blazer is so fun, I love it. It's very structured, but the buffalo plaid and short sleeves make it fun. The thick wool material helps the jacket add warmth without too much bulk as well. Great piece. The pop of orange was just for a nice contrast, and compliments the booties, which are becoming a daily wear, nicely.

Have a great weekend!

Editing

This outfit is something that I liked in theory, but now seeing it in a picture, I can see things I could have done differently. Sometimes, taking pictures of what you're wearing really helps you edit it until it looks right. This is one of those times where I think I should have done that, so I thought I would share it. My biggest gripe is that bag. I've been wearing a back-pack to help my back; it's been aching recently and I'm sure it is due to the weight distribution of my heavy bags. With this sweater though, I can't have anything pulling at the sleeves to preserve the shape. Also, I could have done without the necklace. What I do like is the silhouette of the swingy sweater and tight pencil skirt, and how the browns really help the plum color of the skirt pop. All in all though, I did enjoy wearing this out, and with a few swaps, it's something I would definitely try again.

Marni for H&M

In the world of designer collaborations, I would have to say that Marni for H&M is undoubtedly the collaboration I have looked forward to the most, thus far. Marni is one of my favorite designers, and year after year I ooh and ahhh over the collections that come down the runways. As you can tell, I'm excited. I'm so happy to see that their signature boxier silhouettes, and use of different textures and prints have been perfectly translated in this more affordable collection. The look above is amazing, and for more eye candy, and a full roundup of the collection, with price points, click here. Below are pieces that I've been eyeing.

Featured!

Hi everyone! I hope your long weekend was lovely. I got back in from Las Vegas earlier this evening, and I am incredibly exhausted. I didn't take any blog worthy pictures while I was there, so I'm sorry to say that I won't be sharing snaps of my trip. I will say that it was incredibly fun, and I'm glad I was able to go with the people I went with.

Since I don't have any outfit pics from when I was out of town, I thought I'd share a few of my outfits that have recently been featured on FabSugar.

Packing Light

I'll be up bright and early tomorrow morning because I'm headed to VEGAS!!! I can't describe how excited I am. It'll be my first time going with friends, not family, so a new perspective of Sin City is much anticipated. I thought it would be fun to share my attempt at packing light with you all. If you don't know, I'm a terrible packer, but only because I hate having to anticipate what to wear. Most of the time I pack as much as I can for options, but I couldn't do that this time since all I'm bringing is a carry-on :(
Since I'm only going to be there Sunday morning through Tuesday afternoon I didn't have to pack much, which is great. I thought two dresses for evenings out was perfect. I added black, and patterned tights for options. I also have my trusty cord leggings and a nice blouse for one day outfit, and a simple jersey dress and warm wool tights for another. I threw in a simple t-shirt, green tank, long cardi, and my leather jacket just to add some more options. I tried to keep everything in a neutral color palette to help with the versatility of items.

Clockwise from bottom left: White one-shouldder dress: American Apparel. Tights: H&M. Cords: Anthropologie. Silk Blouse: Anthropologie. Tights: H&M. Long cardi: Anthropologie. Leather Jacket: Michael Kors. Tank: Forever 21. T-shirt: Radiohead Concert T. Jersey Dress: Anthropologie. Strapless Dress: Betsey Johnson.

For shoes I thought three pairs was a good idea. The Tom's are for on the plane and walking around a lot (comfort is key). The ballet flats are for the day if we end up deciding to go somewhere nicer. They are still comfortable to walk around in later on. The heels are obviously for going out at night, and go perfectly with not only the dresses, but everything else I packed, just in case.

Left-Right: TOMS, Gap, Miss Albright

For all of my cosmetic and skincare necessities I threw them all in a giant baggie. TSA rules say so... What helped me here is that I keep my sample containers from Lush, so I can put just the amount I need for all my products in the little pots and throw them in. I divided my make-up into 2 smaller bags, for sanitary purposes.

And voila! I think I did a good job. Oh! I also threw in my scarf as well.
Do you guys have any advice for me? I'd love to improve on my packing abilities. Let me know!!

I hope the rest of everyone's weekend goes well. Have a happy Monday, and I'll see you here Tuesday!

Winter Florals

In an effort to hold onto the idea that Spring is just around the corner, despite the temperature, I wore my flounciest, brightest, most Spring appropriate dress...with a few layers of course. With the popularity of button-up blouses under sweaters holding strong, I thought why not translate the concept to dresses? It's the perfect way to add warmth, and some quirkiness, to your favorite sundress. The best part is that unlike a sweater layered over the dress, the blouse under allows you to show off the dress in it's entirety.

Cowl

This is what you will normally find me wearing on a Sunday running errands. It's super comfortable and casual, but the exaggerated cowl on the sweater adds a certain element of chic to the whole look. The best part is that I got it on super clearance at Gap!

Valentine's

Sorry I couldn't wish you guys a happy Valentine's day yesterday- so here is a belated one :)

My Valentine's day was casual, just the way I like it, and ended with gourmet pizza, and a good comedy. Below is what I wore for Valentine's day, too. No pinks or reds for the day, I think it's a little cheesy. I thought that the leopard print, semi-sheer blouse was perfectly flirty enough for the occasion.

Blazer: Anthropologie. Blouse: Marshall's. Trousers: American Apparel (similar and cheaper). Shoes: Madewell (here). Necklace: Vintage. Sunglasses: Ray Ban. Bag: Aldo.
